Born in Sarajevo, 1939. Studied architecture in Ljubljana. Worked as a film critic for a number of magazines. Produced and wrote radio dramas. Wrote numerous screenplays for short, documentary and feature films. Worked as an assistant to many famous directors including Veljko Bulajic, Alexander Astrik and Orson Wells. Together with Zuko Dzumhur he realized one of the most sucessful TV travel stories "Hodoljublja".
Directed a large number of documentaries such as “Rebecca West’s Yugoslavia” (together with Donald Finn), “Dubrovnik Symphony” (coproduction with MCA, Paris and Virgin, London). Directed six feature films which took part in a number of festivals - Venezia, Moscow, San Francisco, Berlin - and won a number of awards - Prix future in Berlin, Oscar nomination (for “The Scent of Quince”) and others... During the war he shot a number of documentaries (“Sarajevo 1992” was shown at the television festival in Venice).
Produced number of documentaries for SAGA including “Diary Of a Filmmaker”
He is one of the authors of "MGM-SARAJEVO" feature film.
Mirza Idrizovic died in Sarajevo in 1998.
